Model 302 features a 7/8" handle and a 2 1/2" barrel. This model has the largest sweet spot available. Because of its slow tapper from the barrel, hitters have a larger contact point to hit with. It is available in size 32", 33", and 34".

Yellow Birch Bats
From sap to bark, birch trees are used to make everything from beer to toothpicks. Today, Diablo Bats uses it to produce extremely durable wood baseball bats. Because Yellow Birch shares many of the characteristics of maple, it makes a very hard hitting bat. Yellow Birch excels because it also shares many characteristics of ash wood. Ash provides flex and whip that maple does not. Yellow Birch bats will provide you with hard hitting durable bats, that have the spring and whip of maple bats. It’s the ideal wood for guys using big barrel bats, because of its overall well balanced feel.

Where it Grows
Eastern U.S., principally Northern and Lake states. The average tree is 60 to 70 feet in height. Birch prefers valleys and stream banks although it adapts itself to higher grounds.

Main Uses
Furniture, millwork and paneling, doors, flooring, kitchen cabinets, bats and toys.

Did You Know?
Native Americans often rolled and burned birch bark to keep mosquitoes away.

General Description
Yellow birch has a white sapwood and light reddish brown heartwood. The wood is generally straight-grained with a fine uniform texture. Generally characterized by a plain and often curly or wavy pattern. It’s an ideal wood for bats because of its uniform texture.

Physical Properties
The wood of yellow birch is heavy, hard and strong. It has very good bending properties, with good crushing strength and shock resistance.

Availability
Reasonable availability, but more limited if selected for color. Diablo Bats always selects the best color and most uniform grain for our Yellow Birch Bats.
